SSDI and Fibromyalgia

You can get SSDI for fibromyalgia by proving you have symptoms of this disorder and that you cannot work.

Fibromyalgia is an invisible disability, but it’s very real and painful. While other people may not understand why or how you are disabled, you know that there’s no way you could go to work when you’re experiencing symptoms of your disorder.

While you need to focus on your care, you also have to pay your bills. And now that you’re not going into your job every day, you’re starting to fall behind. With SSDI monthly checks, you’d be able to keep up.

Here’s some information on getting SSDI for fibromyalgia and ensuring that you will be financially secure.

Applying for SSDI

You are only eligible for SSDI if your fibromyalgia has caused you to stop working for at least the past year or you cannot work for at least the next 12 months. Additionally, you cannot work in any other type of job, either. You need to be experiencing symptoms of fibromyalgia, which include cognitive difficulties, fatigue along with restless leg syndrome and sleep apnea, and pain in various parts of your body.

Proving You Have Symptoms of Fibromyalgia

It isn’t enough to tell the Social Security Administration you have symptoms of this disorder. You also need proof of it in the form of doctors’ and psychologists’ reports, treatment records, and statements from people who are familiar with your condition. There will be different tests you’ll have to undergo, such as showing that there are at least 11 tender points in your body that would qualify you for SSDI benefits.
